The Education Foundation of WCPS (EF/WCPS) is partnering with Horizon Goodwill Industries (HGI) for the 2022 Spring into Education Clothes Drive. For the week of March 21st to March 25th, HGI will provide blue donation bins to all WCPS schools for the collection of clothing/shoes. There will also be a donation site for the wider community at CES at 10435 Downsville Pike, Hagerstown, MD 21740.
“If you wear it, you can share it” is the rule of thumb for this event. Students, teachers, administrators, and parents can drop off their donations. HGI will purchase the donations based on the weight of materials and the proceeds will support the Education Foundation of WCPS. HGI will in turn process the donations and disperse them to their retail locations. The revenue from those sales will fund HGI community programs.
Community service is a great thing and the challenge is on! Make plans to gather clothing from your extended family and neighbors who don't have school aged children. The elementary, middle, and high school with the most pounds per student will be presented with the Education Foundation Goodwill Cup. To increase participation at your school, consider grade level contests or prizes. Please make announcements throughout the week, send the attached flier home to parents electronically, post on the doors of your school, and share our Facebook event.
We greatly appreciate your support!
