Super Readers Books for Home
18.7% of Washington County youth live below the poverty level, a known indicator for early literacy issues, in part due to lack of access to text, books and reading material at home. Recently, the education foundation provided 60 Super Readers students with their own mini-library of books to keep! These gently used books were graciously donated by area schools and organizations.

If you or your organization is interested in donating books to the Super Readers Books for Home initiative please email info@educationfoundationofwcps.org

Super Readers Program

The Education Foundation of WCPS Super Readers program assists struggling readers in area elementary schools through a proven, structured literacy curriculum. Volunteers work with Kindergartners and first graders, providing much needed support in early literacy skills. The foundation works to recruit, train and schedule mentors. In collaboration with school lead teachers, volunteers work with students on a regular basis. The program administrators in those schools have all identified Super Readers as a valuable addition to their literacy curriculums.
